MEMORIAL EVENTS CALENDAR

On Tuesday, 4 August 2026, it marks the 82nd Remembrance Anniversary of 635 Squadron Pathfinder Pilot, S/Ldr. Ian Willoughby Bazalgette V.C. & DFC, and the two airmen from his crew, Navigator F/Lt. Geoffrey Goddard DFC and Air Gunner F/Sgt. Vernon Victor Russell Leeder DFM, who were all killed in action. Meeting at the Airfield Memorial on ( 04/08/2026 at 11:15 hours, their time of take-off. A wreath will be placed at the Airfield Cairn Memorial to pay respects to three heroes, honouring their sacrifice and inspiring reflection among the community. 

On Thursday, 13 August 2026, the 83rd Remembrance Anniversary will commemorate F/Sgt. Arthur Louis Aaron V.C. & DFM of 218 (Gold Coast) Squadron Pilot. Meeting at the airfield memorial on 13/08/2026 at 21:35 hours, the time of take-off, a wreath will be placed at the Airfield Cairn Memorial to honour his heroism, sacrifice, and to inspire reflection within the community.
